Auditions – The Ash Girl

The Sutton Amateur Dramatics Club will be performing their 305th show, The Ash Girl this November and for all roles will be held this Friday, 7th July

This taughtly-written modern fable is full of imaginative and fantastic characters. When Ash Girl, a lonely abandoned soul, is invited, together with her step mother and step sisters, to a ball at the Prince’s palace her life begins to change. Slowly, she emerges from a life lived hiding in the ashes of the fireplace, tormented by strange creatures, to a hope that she might actually go to this ball. With her father absent, also in torment, Ashie relies on some unexpected friends to help her achieve this hope. As the story follows the classic Cinderella tale, we find many extra facets that enable us to engage with Ashie’s struggle to find and believe in herself.

All of the characters have their struggles and challenges, giving the cast the chance to really explore their roles. The play is unrealistic, involving heightened portrayals through bold physical characterisation and imagination.

All are welcome to audition, but if you’re cast you’d need to become a member. We welcome new members at any time.

All details can be found in the audition notice on our website https://www.sadc.co.uk/future.shtml
