The Break Away is a fast-paced comedy is set in 1988. Ronnie runs a guest house in a village near Plymouth, with lazy stepsister, Heather. She drops a bombshell that a hotel inspector is due any minute.

Two different couples arrive, who both sign in with alias names. The hotel inspector turns up undercover as a guest and then an undercover police inspector arrives looking for a couple, who have kidnapped a dog from a famous actor. The policeman suspects that they are staying there.

It becomes apparent that both couples have smuggled a dog in. Chaos ensues for Ronnie and Heather, as they now have, two dogs, two inspectors and two very odd and suspicious couples.

Local playwright Jack Williams, has written a new fast paced comedy. The action takes place in ‘Pinewood Lodge’ guest house, set in a village on the south coast of Devon, very close to Plymouth.

“We’ve got a wonderful cast who are dedicated and extremely talented. Rehearsals have been an absolute joy and much laughter has been heard”. Jack Williams is beyond grateful to the cast and crew. The cast comprises some of Tiverton’s most talented actors, and the audience will no doubt recognise a lot of faces.

Jack has been a member of the Tiverton Dramatics Society since ‘Allo ‘Allo in 2008 – but has been involved in theatre for 20 years. Jack penned his first play, ‘The Birds, The Bees and Therapy’ which premiered at the New Hall, Tiverton, in October 2012 and went on to win two awards.

Rehearsals for ‘The Break Away’ began in January. The play was written over the last two years.

‘The Break Away’ will be showing each night at the New Hall, Tiverton at 7:30pm from Wednesday 26th to Saturday 29th April.
