The Kentish Players are busy in final rehearsals for their forthcoming production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels – The Musical. The curtain goes up at the Central Theatre, Chatham in Kent from Wednesday 14 to the Saturday 17 June 2107, nightly at 7:30pm.
The show is set in the colourful world of the French Riviera where casino culture is rife. Master con-artist Lawrence Jameson makes a living tricking old, rich ladies into giving him their money. When Freddy arrives on the French coast, he challenges the status quo, and Lawrence’s position as chief con-artist is threatened. As they decide the town just isn’t big enough for the two of them, they challenge each other to a bet. The first one to swindle $50,000 wins. As they both take on the bet, they fall for the same woman, but quickly realise that they may have bitten off more than they can chew. Written by David Yazbek and Jeffrey Lane, this musical comedy is based on the 1988 film of the same name.
This will be the first time ‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’ has been presented in the Medway Towns. The show is a favourite of the Kentish Players as former member, Darren Bennet was in the London cast at the Savoy Theatre. He recently took time out of his busy schedule to send a personal video message to the cast and crew.
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels promises an evening of sophistication, Suave and a good dash of comedy mischief!
