Description of Event: December is here and soon it’ll be Christmas and into the New Year. So we’d like to take this opportunity to let you know about Giffnock Theatre Players upcoming January production All My Sons by Arthur Miller. This classic play is set in America just after World War II and explores the complex relationship between fathers and sons, and the conflicts between dubious business ethics and personal morality.
Part family drama, part thriller it begins on a quiet Sunday morning in the yard of the Keller family’s suburban mid-west home. All is not quite as it seems. A storm damaged tree stands in the garden. It is the portent on how the Keller family life will unravel over the space of just a day.
The themes and issues in the play still resonate today.
Our Club Chairperson, Glynis Poole, has said “We’re excited to bring Arthur Miller’s classic play All My Sons to Glasgow. This powerful play deals with the ruthless dismantling of the American Dream and the theme of self-interest versus the common good. This is one not to miss and we hope that our audiences will enjoy this great piece of theatre.
All My Sons runs at Eastwood Park Theatre in Glasgow’s Southside from 17th to 20th January 2017 at 7.30pm, with a matinee performance at 2.30pm on Saturday 20th January.
Tickets are £15 (£13 concessions available), with a special offer of 2 tickets for £25 for the Wednesday and Saturday performances and may be purchased by phoning 07518 201756 or 0141 577 4956, or by emailing tickets-gtp [at] hotmail [dot] co [dot] uk or online at eastwoodparktheatre.co.uk. For almost 70 years Giffnock Theatre Players has been a major player in amateur dramatic circles. Comedian Rikki Fulton was an early member and appeared in the very first production. For most of that time the club has presented 3 productions each season, and for 45 of those years, have staged them in Eastwood Theatre. The range of productions is staggering – comedies, whodunits, period dramas – and past productions include Calendar Girls, The Steamie, Macbeth, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
