Brought up by his fiercely republican grandparents following the war, Romeo is a poet and a dreamer, while Juliet, raised within a staunchly unwavering fascist sympathising household, struggles to control her destiny in the face of her father and grandmother.

This is Common Ground Theatre Company’s back story for Romeo and Juliet, which seeks to both celebrate the original play and offer a new interpretation with non-traditional casting, fast paced action and live music, while retaining ’s dialogue and language.
