Due to unforeseen circumstances Drayton Players have lost their director and are now looking for a female with a playing age of between 40 and 60 to act in the play The Opposite Sex. This is so one of their members can leave the cast and direct the show.
Drayton Players are an amateur dramatics group based in the village of Drayton near Norwich in Norfolk. Founded in 1949 the Players stage two productions a year, usually comedy and welcome new members regardless of background and experience. Each production runs for four evenings and the week before there is a free Sunday afternoon performance including refreshments for elderly and infirm people who would not otherwise be able to attend an evening performance.
The Players are planning to perform The Opposite Sex at the end of November, but their Director has just resigned. To avoid cancelling the show, Carol Jewell is prepared to step down from the part of Vicki and direct the show instead, but this means they are now looking for someone to play her part. Vicki is a lovely part for an older lady (playing age between 40 and 60) or a younger lady who can play or be made to look older. It’s quite a large part so previous acting experience would be preferable.
At the same time the Players would welcome any new members, both on the stage and behind the scenes. For most things enthusiasm is all that’s needed. Rehearsals take place every week from the 6th of September until the production 28th November to the 1st of December. Actors are required every Thursday during September and then every Thursday and Monday for the rest of the rehearsal period.
