Your Disco Needs You The Musical” is a jukebox musical that seamlessly uses the music of Kylie Minogue to tell the story of 5 women coming together to save a local dance class from closure and through their friendships help each other through adversities. The show previewed in 2014 was valuable in raising awareness about breast cancer as we followed two main characters through their journey. The show had great reviews and sanding ovations each night. We raised £3000 for breast cancer charities and our survey of theatregoers showed that 70-74% did not know the value of exercise in cancer treatment and survivorship before this show, 33% did not know how to do a breast self exam, and 64% said they were glad of the refresher information on how to during the interval. Also 100% said the show raise awareness of the importance of exercise and a positive attitude in survivorship. Following the performances in 2014, two women contacted us to say they found a lump and went on for treatment. They felt the show had saved their lives.
This year we are producing a short charity run again of this musical. Some new songs and some script changes will make it different for anyone that has seen it before. We will be aligning with 3 charities for this year’s show and hope to be able to raise funds for them too. Thanks to The University of the West of Scotland being our sponsor again, auditions and rehearsals will be at Paisley Campus. An Information evening will be on 18th April 6-9pm AUDITIONS will be in April 21st and 22nd 10am-4pm If anyone is interested in auditioning for this unique show, please contact us via our facebook page or via email ydnymusical [at] gmail [dot] com
