East Kilbride Rep Theatre Club returns with an exciting new season for 2018-2019.
It kicks off with John Godber’s classic comedy, Bouncers (Remix), August 22nd to 25th, then October 10th to 13th sees East Kilbride’s Village Theatre turn into 1930s Cornwall in Shaun McKenna’s stage adaptation of Ladies in Lavender – a heart-warming tale of unrequited love.
December welcomes two weeks of panto, with Jack and the Beanstalk between 5th and 15th – cheer on Jack in his attempts to defeat evil giant Blunderbore and rescue Jill with all the usual family panto fun.
The first play of 2019 is Carole Tricker’s breezy comedy Some of my Best Friends Are Women from the 13th to 16th February, followed by A Bunch of Amateurs between 3rd and 6th April – a comedic look at an amateur dramatics group in Stratford, Suffolk putting on King Lear with an ageing Hollywood actor trying to boost his career.
EK RepFest takes place over the week beginning 6th May. Amateur groups from all over Scotland come together to showcase their skills in one-act performances. More details about the festival will be released by the club closer to the time.
The final play of the season is Donna Franceschild’s Takin’ Over the Asylum between 12th and 15th of June. This hilarious and moving adaption of the BBC series takes a humorous but sensitive look at some of the people in a Scottish psychiatric hospital as they strive for their personal dreams.
Ticket prices for each play are £10.00/£7.00 concession, and the season ticket is £30.00.
Season tickets – which give holders entry to all productions (excluding the pantomime), and EK RepFest – can be ordered from https://ek-rep.org.uk/season-tickets/ or ask one of the front of house stewards at a performance for a form.
